Born and raised in East Tennessee, David loves the beauty of the mountains. He can find a “new view around every corner”. Horses caught his attention early in life and that sparked his interest in art. (He recently completed a 9 foot by 21 foot mural of Paso Fino horses.) He studied art at East Tennessee State University.
Twelve years of on the job training as a commercial artist gave David the time required to master his skills before becoming a full-time freelance artist. Later, David became a commissioned portraiture. Pencil drawing and pastels soon became a terrific medium through which David could share his talent and vision.
With a high demand for pet portraits, homes, and commercial buildings, David was able to quickly add those to his repertoire. Following his passion to explore new media, David stretched the gamut of his expertise to include oils, acrylics, and watercolors.
David places importance on family, community, and faith very highly. He happily works from home, on location, and at festivals.
David enjoys painting the beautiful scenery that abounds in his homeland, the Great Smoky Mountains, as well as the beautiful Spring flowers: Iris, Dogwood, and Rhododendron. “The natural beauty of God’s creation serves as a never-ending source of inspiration.” For over 30 years, David has been painting God’s beautiful landscapes. During that time he has learned a great deal about art and how fulfilling it can be to create a work that a client can cherish for a lifetime.
David feels art is a life long study of God’s creations. He has the talent to render masterpieces in many types and styles of art. David works in oils, watercolors, pastels, pencils, and stained glass. He also does custom framing.
